frequently asked questions

How do I schedule an initial session?

Reaching us is easy - sending an email (aabdella@onthepathcc.com) or giving us a call (978-296-4518) will put you in touch. We can schedule a brief consultation call to discuss your needs and answer your questions. From there, we can schedule an initial session or consultation at a time that's convenient for you.

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

The first session is an opportunity to understand your fertility history, emotional concerns, current stressors, and goals for therapy. You are not expected to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels safe and supportive.

How often will we meet?

Most psychotherapy clients begin with weekly sessions, particularly during active fertility treatment or periods of heightened stress. As stability increases, some clients transition to biweekly sessions. The frequency of therapy is always collaborative and based on your needs.

Is infertility counseling only for people in active treatment?

No. Therapy can be helpful at any stage, including:

  • When you are first considering fertility testing

  • Before beginning IVF or IUI

  • After a failed cycle

  • Following miscarriage

  • When exploring donor conception or surrogacy

  • When deciding whether to continue treatment

  • While adjusting to life after infertility

There is no “right time” to begin. Many clients find that early support reduces emotional burnout later.

Do you work with pregnancy loss and miscarriage?

Yes. On The Path provides counseling and support for miscarriage and recurrent pregnancy loss. Grief after pregnancy loss is often invisible or minimized by others, yet deeply painful. Therapy offers space to process that grief without pressure to “move on” or stay positive.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes - sessions are offered virtually and in our Andover, MA office depending on your preference and availability.

Do you accept insurance? What are your rates?

On The Path is considered out of network with insurance companies. We partner with Reimbursify to determine your out of network coverage and depending on your insurance carrier, we can submit Superbills for reimbursement on your behalf.

Our session rate for out-patient psychotherapy is $175 for a 55-minute psychotherapy session. Our Fertility Forward support program is $525 for six 30-minute sessions. Please contact us to discuss fee structure for third-party reproduction arrangements. All fees are payable by cash or card, including HSA and FSA accounts.
